Care Guide
A few simple habits keep vintage pieces looking their best. Our items have already been loved once, so gentle, regular care matters more than anything.
General care
Your piece will keep its qualities if it is not directly exposed to sources of light and heat. Avoid excessive contact with water, oils, perfumes and cosmetics, and let it dry naturally at room temperature if it does get wet.
Because our pieces are vintage, variations in tone, patina, marks and grain are natural features of age and use. They are part of the character of the piece and should not be considered imperfections.
Leather bags and small leather goods
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use to remove dust. Keep leather away from prolonged direct sunlight, radiators and damp, which can dry, fade or warp it.
Treat with a colourless leather conditioner once or twice a year to keep the leather supple. Always test on a hidden area first, and avoid household cleaners, solvents and baby wipes. Protect light-coloured leather from colour transfer from denim and dark fabrics.
Suede and nubuck
Brush lightly with a soft suede brush in one direction to lift dust and restore the nap. Treat marks with a dedicated suede eraser rather than water.
A suede protector spray helps guard against water and stains. Keep suede well away from moisture and never rub a wet mark, as this pushes it into the fibres.
Canvas and coated fabric
Signature canvas and coated fabrics are hard-wearing. Wipe with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water and a drop of mild soap, then wipe clean and let it air dry.
Take extra care around the leather trims, which should be kept dry and treated as leather.
Hardware and chains
Buff metal hardware with a soft, dry cloth to keep its shine. On vintage pieces, some softening of plating or light tarnish is normal and part of the age of the item.
Avoid contact with perfume, water and cleaning products, which can accelerate tarnishing. Do not use metal polishes, as they can strip plated finishes.
Storage
Store your bag stuffed with tissue paper or a soft cushion to help it hold its shape, and keep it in its dust bag in a cool, dry place out of direct light.
Avoid hanging bags by their straps for long periods and let the leather rest between uses. Fasten any closures gently rather than forcing them.
A note on vintage condition
Every piece is pre-owned and described honestly, with condition shown in the photographs. Signs of previous use are expected and add to the story of the piece.
